Spendulus Bill Gives $13 a Week - What Can You Do With That?

I love when people forget that their spoken words in a campaign are enshrined forever on the Internet and that is the case with Michele Obama who had this to say in July of 2008 about the Bush stimulus of $600 paid in a lump sum:

"You're getting $600 - what can you do with that?" Mrs. Obama said in Pontiac, Michigan last week. "Not to be ungrateful or anything, but maybe it pays down a bill, but it doesn't pay down every bill every month. The short-term quick fix kinda stuff sounds good, and it may even feel good that first month when you get that check, and then you go out and you buy a pair of earrings."

So now we get - what $400 and not even in a lump sum.. they will dole it out so you will get taxed $13 less per paycheck essentially.  Gee what can an extra $13 do for stimulating the economy?  Can't buy jewelery, go to the movies or even buy a pizza with that.

Not to be ungrateful or anything but WHAT THE HELL IS $13 A WEEK GOING TO DO FOR THE ECONOMY?

Meanwhile, Fox News reports on the gory details about who will get what. Here are some excerpts:

The $1,000 child tax credit would be extended to more low-income families that don't make enough money to pay income taxes, and poor families with three or more children will get an expanded Earned Income Tax Credit.

In short - expanded welfare for people who don't contribute or pay taxes and even more rewards if they push out more babies while they are dependent on taxpayer funded welfare. Great!

$90 billion to repair bridges and repave roads. But the $90 billion is a mere down payment on what's needed to repair and improve the country's physical backbone. And not all economists agree it's an effective way to add jobs in the long term, or stimulate the economy.

This sounds good except it is not really creating jobs, probably will employ illegal aliens in the process since the provisions for requiring citizenship for stimulus jobs was removed as well as renewing E-Verify AND it's a drop in the bucket regarding the money REALLY needed for repairing the worn out infrastructure in this country.

And let's take a look at why it might be so worn out shall we? Could it be the FLOOD of illegal aliens to the tune of an extra 40 MILLION people added in maybe only 10-15 years that is straining our infrastructure? Ya think?

The package includes $9.2 billion for environmental projects at the Interior Department and the Environmental Protection Agency. The money would be used to shutter abandoned mines on public lands, to help local governments protect drinking water supplies, and to erect energy-efficient visitor centers at wildlife refuges and national parks.

The Interior Department estimates that its portion of the work would generate about 100,000 jobs over the next two years.

Yet the plan will only make a dent in the backlog of cleanups facing the EPA and the long list of chores at the country's national parks, refuges and other public lands. It would be more like a down payment.

Ooh.. 100,000 jobs.. that should help that MILLIONS of people out of work now shouldn't it?

More than 37 million Americans live in poverty, and the vast majority of them are in line for extra help under the giant stimulus package. Millions more could be kept from slipping into poverty by the economic lifeline.

People who get food stamps -- 30 million and growing -- will get more. People drawing unemployment checks -- nearly 5 million and growing -- would get an extra $25, and keep those checks coming longer. People who get Supplemental Security Income -- 7 million poor Americans who are elderly, blind or disabled -- would get one-time extra payments of $250.

I'm sure our nation's elderly, blind or disabled will be clicking their heels when they get that extra $250 one time payment that will help them buy - what - one prescription medicine extra that month?  They'd be better off having been a welfare druggie than a contributing citizen who is now retired or disabled.

I have to wonder - how much more money will OctoMom Nadya Suleman get from this massive Spendulus bill?  I'm sure that will make everyone happy to know that more of our tax dollars will go to irresponsible welfare moms who push out babies to get more food stamps and welfare checks.

Here's another view of the stimulus bill that we got shoved down our throats by the Democraps.

Robert Rector, a Senior Research Fellow at The Heritage Foundation, has studied the House bill. He finds it to be a resurrection of the welfare state, which many believe died during the Clinton administration with considerable assistance from the then-Republican Congress.

Rector notes that in the first year following enactment of the stimulus bill, "federal welfare spending will explode upward by more than 20 percent, rising from $491 billion in fiscal year 2008 to $601 billion in FY 2009." That would be the largest expansion of welfare in the nation's history. But it is only the beginning of Obama's pledge to "Joe the Plumber" to "spread the wealth around."

"Once the hidden welfare spending in the bill is counted," writes Rector, "the total 10-year fiscal burden (added to the national debt) will not be $816 billion, as claimed, but $1.34 trillion. This amounts to $17,400 for each household paying income tax in the U.S."

Under this legislation, according to Rector, the federal government for the first time "will give significant cash to able-bodied adults without dependent children." Even though these people may have little apparent need of help, they'll get a check just because government can send one.

Rector says that the House and Senate bills "use the idea of economic stimulus as a Trojan horse to conceal massive, permanent increases in the U.S. welfare system. The goal of the bills is ‘spreading the wealth,' not reviving the economy."

It will add to the growing number of people dependent on government and, thus, politicians, who will never show them the way out of poverty, but give them only enough money to sustain them in poverty and then tell them if they don't vote for Democrats, those nasty Republicans will take their checks away.

Nuff said... How do you like that Hope and Change now?
